ForumBot gives your XenForo forum a private 1:1 chat for registered members, trained on your community's own content. Members get grounded answers without having to post basic questions publicly, saving their higher-quality discourse for your forums.

ForumBot is a managed service. The free addon delivers the in-forum experience (chat panel, admin tools, license validation), and your subscription covers the AI backend, an agent prompt engineered for your forum, and ongoing improvements. Setup is straightforward. We'll have you live in about 2 days.

This addon is free; the AI backend (powered through our exclusive partnership with Xpertloop) is enabled with a license key ($40/month subscription) which can be purchased at forumbot.net. Your license key is the only credential your forum ever needs.

3. Enter your license key in AdminCP and configure your usergroup permissions

Dedicated chat page
An onsite AI chat page where members ask questions and get answers grounded in your community's content. Guests prompted to register or log in.

@tag in threads
Staff tag the bot by name in any post. It reads the thread context, consults your KB, and replies in real time.

Robot icon on posts
A small icon appears on every post. Clicking it opens the 1:1 chat with that post in context, useful for "explain this post," summaries, or follow-up questions.

Members save up to 1,500 characters describing their project, current setup, ongoing goals, or background. When chatting, they opt-in via a "Use Project Info" toggle to attach that context to a question. The bot grounds its answers in the member's saved details instead of producing generic responses.

Use cases vary by community:

• Aquarium keepers save tank parameters; the bot answers species questions specific to their setup.
• Hobbyists save gear lists or current project status.
• Researchers save their area of focus.
• Commerce communities save buyer profiles.

Two-layer permission gating: a master option (off by default) plus a per-user permission ("Use ForumBot Project Info"). Admins choose which usergroups get access (typical patterns: admins, mods, paid tiers). An optional admin coaching field lets you guide members on what to include.

The toggle starts OFF on every page load, and the Clear chat button resets it as well. No risk of stale context bleeding into unrelated questions.

Each forum admin gets a custom agent prompt, combined with our standard instructions optimized for XenForo and ForumBot. We engineer the prompt for your forum's domain, tone, and house rules. Optionally, we can ingest your community's content into the bot's knowledge base so answers stay grounded in what your members have actually written.

Three knowledge base files we can ingest as part of onboarding. Each is optional. A simple agent with no KB submission still works fine off the system prompt alone; KBs are the stronger solution when you want the agent grounded in your own content.

• {site}-articles-kb.csv: published articles, blog posts, knowledge base entries, documentation, or any non-forum content the agent should be able to cite.
• {site}-forums-kb.csv: forum thread titles and post content, so the agent can draw on community discussion.
• {site}-nav-kb.csv: list of your forum's sections (nodes), so the agent can route users to the right place when a CTA is warranted.

You provide an export and we handle the upload and configuration on the backend. Updates to your KB ride the same workflow.
